Scan Supported Vehicle Systems with UDS
Use vehicle-specific Unified Diagnostic Services (UDS) references to request manufacturer-specific diagnostic codes from modules that respond. Coverage depends on the exact vehicle and configuration.
How UDS differs from standard OBD2
Standard OBD2 focuses on engine and emissions diagnostics. UDS can query manufacturer-specific systems such as supported ABS, airbag, transmission or body modules. OBD CAN lists reference configurations; a listing does not prove verification on your exact vehicle or module, and references may not cover every market or model year.
Run a vehicle-specific scan
- Park safely, switch the ignition on as required and connect a compatible BLE OBD2 adapter.
- Sign in to OBD CAN, connect to the vehicle and open the UDS diagnosis flow.
- Select the closest matching make, vehicle profile and module configuration. Review the listed modules and any reference or compatibility notice.
- Start the scan and keep the adapter connected while the app queries the selected modules. Review each module’s response status with its returned codes.
UDS diagnosis requires sign-in and paid membership; a compatible adapter is sold separately. Module coverage, code reading and clearing support vary by vehicle and module.
Understand codes, status and clearing
Read a code together with the module name and status. A module that completes its requested read with no codes has no codes reported in that scope; other fault statuses may not have been checked. “No response,” a rejected request, an incomplete reply or a communication error means that module’s status is unknown, not fault-free. For a partial scan, check the vehicle and module selection, ignition state, adapter connection and protocol before trying again.
Clearing is a separate operation. The app asks you to confirm before sending the request. Some modules may not support clearing. OBD CAN marks a clear as confirmed only after an ECU acknowledgement and may re-read acknowledged modules. Missing acknowledgement or verification leaves the result uncertain. Clearing does not repair the cause and may remove diagnostic evidence.
Illustrative example: If an ABS warning appears, select the matching vehicle profile and scan its listed ABS module. If a code returns, save its code and status, then consult service information or a technician. If ABS is missing from the profile or does not respond, coverage is unknown; do not conclude the system is fault-free.
Save and share a report
Keep the scan report for later review. You can copy it with prepared questions and paste it into a third-party AI tool or share it with a technician. OBD CAN does not provide an in-app AI diagnosis. Include vehicle and module details when sharing, and verify suggestions against reliable service documentation.
Frequently asked questions
Does UDS scan every ECU?
No. Reference configurations can be incomplete or unverified. Actual compatibility depends on the vehicle, module, protocol and adapter.
Does a module that does not respond have no faults?
No. Its fault status is unknown because the app received no usable response. Non-response is not evidence that the system is clear.
Why do I need membership?
Standard OBD2 code reading and clearing are free after sign-in. UDS diagnosis is a paid membership feature; current plans and benefits are shown in the app.
