Run a Standard OBD2 Full Vehicle Scan
Bring several standard OBD2 checks into one review: vehicle identifiers, current and stored emissions codes, supported oxygen and non-continuous monitor results, and available live sensor values. “Full” describes a convenient summary across these OBD checks; it does not mean a UDS scan of every vehicle module.
What the scan reads
After you start it, OBD CAN initializes the adapter and reads Mode 9 vehicle information; current, pending, and permanent DTCs; supported Mode 5 oxygen-sensor results; Mode 6 monitor tests; and the Mode 1 PIDs the vehicle advertises as supported. Results appear by section as they arrive. The app can save a report containing completed sections even if the connection interrupts the scan.
Coverage depends on the vehicle’s standard OBD support, ECU responses, adapter, and protocol. This scan does not query every ABS, airbag, transmission, body, or manufacturer-specific module. For vehicle-specific multi-module diagnostics, see the UDS diagnostics guide . A section with no returned data means no data was available through that request; it does not establish that the system has no problem.
How to run and review it
- Sign in and connect a compatible BLE OBD2 adapter to the vehicle.
- Open Full Vehicle Scan and start the scan. Keep the app open and the connection stable while it checks each section.
- Read the section headings and scan status. Distinguish current, pending, and permanent codes, and note which sections completed if a connection is interrupted.
- Review the code descriptions and monitor readings, then copy the report or save its image from the report menu. The test history button lets you reopen a saved scan later.
Example: an intermittent warning light
If an engine warning light appeared yesterday but is off today, connect and run the scan, compare current, pending, and permanent code sections, then note any supported monitor results. If a code appears, retain the report and consult a qualified repairer about that code and symptoms. A clean standard OBD scan cannot rule out intermittent faults or faults stored only in modules it does not query.
Access and limitations
Starting the scan requires sign-in, a connected compatible BLE adapter, and paid membership. The adapter is sold separately; iOS does not support classic Bluetooth or Wi-Fi adapters. Results are diagnostic evidence, not a repair instruction. Clearing codes is a separate action and does not fix their cause.
Frequently asked questions
Does this scan every ECU?
No. It summarizes available standard OBD2 checks and is not a full UDS module scan.
Does “no codes” prove the car is healthy?
No. It only describes what the queried ECUs and supported checks returned at that time.
